Our passion for coffee goes beyond simply selling great products.

Here at roasted, training and support is central to everything we do. We offer a wide range of excellent, practical barista training courses to help you learn and develop the skills needed to make consistently great cups of coffee.
Our dedicated barista trainer, Luke, has worked in both busy commercial settings and the independent coffee scene in Brighton. With great knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for coffee he will help you develop at your own pace in a way that is both informative and fun.

Barista Basics (3 hours): £90.00 inc VAT per person

Aimed at equipping you with the necessary skills, knowledge and passion to become a barista this hands on, practical course covers:

  • The grinder and the espresso machine and how to get the best out of them both, by learning to dose, tamp and extract the espresso to the highest standard
  • Grinder set-up
  • Basic milk texturing techniques
  • How to set up your workspace, so you can work in an efficient manner and
  • The basic daily care and close down procedure for your equipment

Professional Barista Techniques (3 hours): £102.00 inc VAT per person

This course will show you what it means to work at the highest level and will give you the best possible start to a new, exciting career in the coffee industry. Among other things you will be learning about the different varieties of coffee and how processing/roasting affect the flavour.
This course covers the following:

  • Green coffee and the amazing journey from bean to cup. You will gain an insight into the growing, harvesting, processing and roasting of coffee and how these factors influence the taste of your brew
  • Grinder calibration, enabling you to extract the best possible flavour from your coffee
  • Espresso brewing techniques
  • Advanced latte art
  • Workflow and café layout
  • Working ‘smart’, to hone pouring techniques and deliver at speed
  • Alternative brewing methods- introducing the brewing equipment you may encounter on a brew bar

One to one bespoke courses (2 hours): £114 inc VAT

A private barista training session designed specifically for you.
Whether you’re an experienced barista or just a home enthusiast, this course will be tailored to suit your requirements and interests.
Topics that could be covered include:

  • Espresso extraction techniques
  • Latte art
  • Filter coffee and brew bar techniques
  • Working smart in a busy coffee environment

Home Barista (2 hours): £45 + VAT per person

(There will be a maximum of 8 people on this course)

This course is aimed at coffee enthusiasts and will help you get the best out of your coffee at home. To help develop your passion and understanding even further you will also learn how the taste of coffee is influenced by the way it is grown, roasted and brewed.
The brewing methods that will be covered are:

  • Drip filter
  • Aeropress
  • Cafetiere
  • Cold brew
  • Syphon

After the session you will leave with a bag of our perfectly roasted coffee to try out your new skills.
You will be sampling a lot of coffee over the two hours, so we would recommend keeping your caffeine levels low before coming along.
